Toward
the Sun, a duo for two harps, described by Andres Izmaylov
as 'a little Jazzy Joke', was written for the composer and his young
son, then ten years old, to play together. Delightful, witty and amusing
for audience and performers alike, the two parts are well adapted for
teacher or advanced student (Grades 6-7) playing with a younger student
or less advanced pupil. The second harp part is well within the reach
of anyone who has reached Grades 3-4 standard, and as there are no
key or lever changes, it has the advantage of being playable on lever
as well as concert harp.
Toward the Sun has been recorded by Andres and Artemy Izmaylov and is
available from Creighton's Collection - see Recordings panel
below.
